The Wisdom Series: The Wisdom Of The Eagle

The eagle is considered the king of birds because of its outstanding features. This bird possesses superior faculties and also displays uncommon tendencies that sets it apart from other birds.

In this post we will be examining those features that distinguish the eagle from other birds and the exceptional wisdom that makes it unique.

THE WISDOM OF THE EAGLE

1. EAGLES OFTEN FLY ALONE: Eagles don't flock. You will never come across a flock of eagles neither will you ever see an eagle flying alongside other birds.

Wisdom tip: The pathway to success for the most part requires an individual pursuit. Congregating with people who are narrow minded can jeopardize your attempts towards success.

If you are an Eagle don't get married to a duck else you will be grounded on the path of destiny. People will relate with you based on what level they are. Their presence in your life will either be a source of limitation or motivation towards success.

2. EAGLES FLY AT HIGH ALTITUDE: Another distinctive factor about the eagle is that it flies at high altitudes. Whereas there are birds that cannot fly, like the ostrich, eagles have been spotted at altitudes as high as eleven thousand fits above sea level.

Wisdom tip: Do not compare yourself with others, rather push yourself out of your comfort zone and explore your potential to its limit.

Don't limit yourself, don't mice your ability and don't pocket your potential. Rather, stretch yourself and go beyond the limit that others have set for their self.

3. EAGLES HAVE SHARP VISION: They have the ability to see anything between two to five miles away.

According to research, eagles can see clearly about eight times as far as humans can.

Wisdom tip: If you want to be extraordinary you must cultivate ability to see farther than others can see. This is done through study and engaging your imagination.

One common factor in great people is their ability to see a possibilities long before it manifests. Average people are the ones that are always surprised when there is a change in the society.

You become a master of life when you are able to see things from a distance long before it happens. This helps you to better position yourself.

4. UNCANNY FOCUS: Next to the ability of an eagle to see from a distance is their ability to maintain focus until they get hold of their prey.

No matter the obstacles, the eagle will not divert its attention from the prey until it catches it.

Wisdom tip: Having a vision is not enough, you must stay focused on it until your goal is achieved.

Most people start a year with beautiful resolutions, well articulated goals and passion to pursue those goals but the moment they encounter setbacks their dump their goals and start chasing shadows.

You cannot achieve success that way. The ability to maintain focus over an extended period of time is a necessity if you want to achieve your goals.

5. EAGLES DON'T EAT DEAD THINGS: They feed only on fresh prey.

Wisdom tip: You are what you eat. The information that you consume determines the course and outcome of your life.

Just as we have junk foods we also have junk information. And the effect junk food has to the body is the same effect junk information has to the mind.

It is impossible to live an exceptional life when you consistently feed your mind with junk information.

The first kind of junk information has to do with foul language, violence and nude visuals. These are often found in the kind of movies we watch and music that we listen

The second kind of junk information has to do with negative opinions from those around us.

The third kind of junk information has to do with any information that has become stale and obsolete.

This three kinds of junk information have the capacity to cripple the mental prowess if an individual.

6. SOARING IN THE STORM: Other birds seek for a hiding place whenever there is aw storm. But the eagle uses the storms to rise higher. Once it finds the storm wind, the eagle will use the raging storm to soar above the clouds. This gives him the opportunity to glide and rest on his wings.

Wisdom tip: What you do in times of difficulty is a proof of what you are made of.

If you faint in the day of adversity your strength is small.

The same challenge that make average people to chicken away is the same challenge that causes great people to advance their life.

You can either use the storm as an excuse to remain mediocre or use it as a ladder to your success. The story of successful people is the story of endurance and courage eve in the face of adversity. Whereas the story of mediocres is a tale of many excuses. The choice is yours, you can chose what category you belong to.

Face your challenges head on knowing that you will come out of them stronger and better than you were before those challenges. We can use the storms of life to reach greater heights. Those who focus on performance are not afraid to soar to the highest peaks. They are not afraid of challenges, but rather relish them and use them profitably.

7. RELATIONSHIP STRATEGY: When a female eagle meets a male eagle and they want to mate, she flies down to the ground, plucks a twig, and flies through the air with the male eagle in pursuit. Once she's gotten high enough for her, she drops the twig and drops it to the ground as she watches. The male eagle chases the twig and grabs it before it hits the ground, then brings it back to the female eagle. The female eagle grabs the twig and flies to a much higher altitude and drops the twig again for the male eagle to chase. This continues for hours, the height increasing each time until the female eagle is assured that the male eagle has mastered the art of plucking the twig that shows commitment. Then and only then will she allow him to mate with her.

Wisdom tip: Allow people into your life based on principles and not based on emotions. Never commit yourself to someone whose loyalty has not been tested.

Secondly, know your kind. We said earlier that if you are an eagle do not marry a dock. The reason many people are frustrated in their relationships is because they are with someone that does not have the capacity both mentally and emotionally to capture what they represent.

For two to walk together they must agree, and agreement is not in words only. It begins by having similarity of visions and values.

It has been said that love can bring two individuals together but their values can put them apart. Committing to those that have similar values will help in bringing the best out of you.

8. PASSING IT ON: The eagle trains the eaglet to fly and be independent.  It does this by making the nest uncomfortable by removing the twigs one after the other.

Wisdom tip:  As a parent or leader, avoid the temptation of making your children or subordinates to be entirely dependent on you. This might look nice in the interim but in the long run it will sap the energy out of you because you would have succeeded in raising a bunch of irresponsible people.

It was Dr. Myles Munroe who said that a good leader employs people but a great leader deploys people. The best leaders train people to be independent.

9. THE ART OF RETREATING: This is the climax of the wisdom of the eagle. As the eagle grows older it's feathers become weak and the eagle is unable to fly as fast and as high as it should. This makes the eagle vulnerable and could even cause it to die. So it retreats to a remote place in the mountains. There, he plucks the weak feathers from its body and breaks it's beaks and claws against the rocks until he is completely naked; a very bloody and painful process. Then it stays in this hiding place until it has developed new feathers, new beaks and new claws, then it comes out flying higher than before.

Wisdom tip: You need to set out time periodically in other to retreat. This is a system of renewal and restrategizing for greater effectiveness.

This process is a necessary requirement for maintaining and perpetuating your success and productivity.

SUMMARY

This is the wisdom of the eagle. These are the factors that distinguish the eagle from other birds, therefore, if you want to perpetuate your success it is expedient for you to subscribe to the wisdom of the eagle.
